One potato, two potato

More updating on things that I have been up to....

Junk Shopping
We made a quick side trip on the way home from our guild meeting on Saturday morning stopping at the Marketplace Annex in Newport, DE.   They buy out estates, etc. and always have great things.  I picked these two goodies.
Tiny little child's chair and a blue and white milk pitcher.

I tried the flowers but like my little teddy bear better!

I added the blue and white pitcher to my collection of blue and white planters.   I live by my mother's creed of collecting......don't but it because it has a certain brand or name to it, buy if you like it!
DWTS
Dancing with the Stars starts in a few minutes and who can even guess who will be eliminated.   I felt so bad for Katherine Jenkins last night.   She just seems to be such a fresh, innocent girl next store kind of girl full of niceness.   What a season.  One of my favorite dances was year is this one..... Maria and Derek, Week 8,  It was not just the moves, it was the intensity between them, their interpretation and it was the song that did it for me.....everyone should be able to experience a love like the Christina Perri sings about at least once in their life.....I know, sappy aren't I?

Stitching Progress
I have a finish to share and as well as a start.   This is Shakespeare's Peddler - Keys.  I must visit my framer and see if I can mount it as a tray to toss change and keys into.
It sure would look better with some a few skeleton keys and not my work keys.

And I started laying in basting stitches for my BAP (Big A$$ Project) that I hope to start in July.   Why July?   Because I am staying the course.......keep on working on my WIP's.   If I can finish at least half of what I had on my list in January, I will reward myself with the new start.   This is a major commitment for Side Track Robin!  I am trying to be strong.

I started laying basic basting 20 threads apart and quickly decided after my initial  3 x 3 down the center, to move to 40 threads apart.   I am using 35 count WDW - Parchment
 Home and Family
Sunday - I got up and did a quick staining of my deck.  By early afternoon, my favorite spring/summer retreat area was ready.   Good thing because I was treated to surprise visit from my daughter and my son-in-law.   I had a big pork roast ready to cook planning the left overs for me to eat during the week so I was it easy to set two more plates for them.   What!? It was Mother's Day!  Should I be cooking?   Yes, of course, because I am a care taker and I am thrilled to have someone to cook for.  Heather pitched in with the salad and dessert and it wasn't long before we were on the deck stitching the afternoon away.  Mr. W. used to tell me - 'expect nothing, than whatever you get, you are happy with'.   I did really get it or subscribe to his spin on life....but Sunday I got it.....I am a slow learner a times.    I was smiling like a Cheshire cat just enjoying the afternoon with my daughter.  It was a treat because I didn't expect to see any of my children on Mother's Day.

8 a.m.

9:15 a.m.

2 p.m.  and Mr. W. will be thrilled when I manage to move the rest of my plants outside.   He's made comment more than once.   I've decide he just figures it is easier to just tolerate me and my stuff than argue with me!

Heather knits a sleeve to a sweater.
Heather gave me this little guy.....there is the every present squirrel theme in gifts in my house.  This started after the squirrel sat on Mr. W's head several years ago....it has given us many a segway....where she finds these things.....I mean really, a solar powered squirrel on a motorcycle light.....it was perfect and has taken a place of honor in the garden by the pond.   We are silly folks.

One potato, two potato.....remember when you put you hands in and sang the song and the last one was the winner and got to choose......well, I was the winner on Sunday and if I had to choose the best way to spend my day, spending in the great outdoors, all comfy in my back yard, with my family is what I would choose.

Have a great week all.....weather forecast for my little world is looking up after a couple days of rain.

Why the shocker?

DWTS - The Hoff - Why is this being touted as a 'shocker' is beyond me.   I like David Hasslehoff but his performance was stiff and lacked the skill and style some of the other performed demonstrated.  I have seen him and he has 'moves' in commericials, etc.   Perhaps he could have refined and polished with more practice.  People are getting more serious about keeping the skilled dancers versus the keeping a fan favorite.  I think the skill level just continues to elevate each year.   Who to watch......hmmmmm.....any of them is miles better than I could ever be!

Oops!  A second shocker......too much playing this morning......got a little into the Halloween season with my colors......will need to tone them down a bit tonight.  !SCARY!

Thank Heavens for DVRing!

I have Yoga on Monday's and set up my DVR to record Dancing with the Stars.  I just saw the funniest thing yet....I laughed out loud, I hope I didn't wake up Mr. Wonderful..........Florence Henderson just lifted her shirt to show her abs letting 'the Situation' know he has competition in the best six pack department.  I am sure it has to be out there on the internet somewhere.  She is 76 and all I can say is....you go girl!

So glad DWTS is back and too early for me to make any predictions....haven't seen everyone dance yet!

Progress and great things to look forward to!!

Had a bit of trouble trying to change my header photo to one of Iris' from last spring so what you see is a HINT of spring!

So here's my  progress on my Nan Tyson Euler sampler.   Had to do the teensiest bit of frogging on the upper left border where I made the corner  to start the border across the top.   Mis-counted somewhere along the left side and would not have had enough room to stitch the four quilt-like sampler motifs.  I sure am glad I had not completed the entire top border!    Thank goodness for small miracles.    Whew!    After finishing the row of stepped herringbone I was still not any bigger of a fan.  I thought all that messing about for not much of a show.

Speaking of messing about!  makes me think of Len Goodman of Dancing With the Stars.  (DWTS)   I confess to being a big fan.  What's up with sending home Shannon Dougherty?   First and foremost my disclaimer that I could not even dancing if electrodes were attached to me to jolt me for the proper steps on a floor with numbered footprints so I give them all credit.   Shannon seemed to be enjoying herself and was no where near as stiff at Kate Plus 8.  Oh well, it is why I am not a judge!

Now for my Sewing Room Treasures, I have been stitching on it but I seem to jump all about.  There I go messing about again.   A lot of movement and not much substance! I need to stick to one section to complete it and be able to see more visable progress worthy of a photo!

I had thought I might finish my SB April but I was torn between my love of the yard and my love of stitching.   Here's a peek and fingers crossed I can finish today!

Next, my diet plan is not working so I have joined Weight Watchers.   It is the only diet my family physician supports and I know it works.   I have been telling myself I could do it on my own but alas, I accept I can not.    I can't go wrong with this!  It is at work at lunch time and as part of the wellness plan, the Company pays 1/2 of our 15 week fee!  Weeeeee!  See what I mean?  It would be silly not to sign up.

And last but not least for today, I have signed up for a 6 week quilting class.   I have sewn forever and had all the sewing classes in high school.   I made quilts for the kids when they were young.  But I did it without any training.   I just did what I thought was right.   You know the valuable tricks and tips you learn in a class?  That's what I am hoping to take away.   It will be fun every Tuesday night to look forward to it!  My daughter and I attended the AQS in Lancaster PA last weekend and I guess it got the creative juices flowing!

Happy Easter all and a great week for everyone.   Thanks for stopping by.

What happened when I dozed off?

I worked late a couple or three nights in a row.  That is not so bad but I also went in early all week.   So I put my feet up with my stitching and DWTS on......I remember watching the re-cap of the prior night but that is all I saw.   I woke up all sore and twisted, no stitching accomplished and 11 o'clock news  or something on TV but no Dancing with the Stars.   Imagine my surprise when that next day I hear one of those between show ads that Joanna Krupa was eliminated.  What is up with Joanna being voted off DWTS?   I thought she was awesome....but I am also tone deaf and never can remember words to songs or who sings them so I don't exactly possess a lot of validity when it comes to judging the performing arts.  But she was good!  I really thought it was between Mya and Joanna for the win.   I anticipated Donny or Kelly being eliminated.   I just love listening to Kelly talk and I think she has come a long way during the competition and was hoping she would be able to continue.  Is it my judgment or was this a shocker?  So more TV drama....what's up with Oprah?  Week after week you watch TV and it is the same old thing but BAM! miss a few days and sh&$ happens.
